Why your gift at the door matters

Poverty affects millions of children around the world that limit access to essentials like food, clean water, health care and education. The impact is real and immediate and without support, it negatively affects a child’s future. 

Children Believe’s is fundraising door-to-door to reach people in communities across Canada. Our aim is to connect with, and inspire, compassionate individuals like you to make a gift that will help remove the barriers of poverty in children’s lives. Your single gift makes an immediate and lasting difference.

Our Door-To-Door Fundraising Partner: Giveroo

Children Believe partners with Giveroo, a trusted Canadian face-to-face fundraising service provider. In line with Imagine Canada’s Standards Program and best practices for fundraising, our fundraisers are compensated through hourly wages and not commission based. We also ensure that they receive comprehensive training to fully understand and speak on behalf of Children Believe and the impact of our work and mission programs.   

Fundraiser Code of Conduct

Every Giveroo canvasser representing Children Believe is trained to follow these standards without exception.

✓ They will:

✓ Wear a purple Children Believe vest at all times
✓ Display a purple Children Believe lanyard with photo ID
✓ Clearly identify themselves as being from Giveroo on behalf of Children Believe
✓ Only ask for a single, one-time gift
✓ Use secure, PCI-compliant devices to process your donation and collect personal information
✓ Respect your decision if you choose not to donate

✗ They will NOT:

✗ Accept cash or cheques at the door
✗ Ask for a monthly or recurring donation commitment
✗ Use a handheld debit machine, tap device, or paper receipt book
✗ Pressure you or linger after you've declined

How the donation process works at the door

1. Our fully trained fundraiser enters your personal and payment information into a secure tablet.

2. Once the donation process is successful, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you have provided within 24 hours confirming your gift amount and details.

3. Your official tax receipt will be issued annually and mailed to you every February. 

Yes. Children Believe is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to empowering children in developing countries through education, community development, and child rights advocacy. We are a member of the Child Fund Alliance and accredited by Charity Intelligence Canada and Imagine Canada. You can verify our charitable status on the CRA website using our registered charity number: #10691 8543 RR0001  

Children Believe fundraisers can be easily identified by the purple Children Believe lanyard with a photo ID card (which they will always present upon request) and purple Children Believe vest they are wearing. Our fundraisers carry tablets to securely collect your contact information only and will never accept cheques or cash at the door. 

Giveroo is our official fundraising partner. Giveroo fundraisers are trained comprehensively and are representing Children Believe, so they are required to follow our code of conduct at all times.  

Yes. Your information is entered into a secure encrypted tablet — and will not be collected nor written on paper or stored on a personal device. 

Your official tax receipt will be generated and mailed to the address you provided each February for the prior calendar year. 

We believe a single gift is a meaningful, low-commitment way for new supporters to experience the impact of giving to Children Believe. If you are interested in supporting us with a monthly gift, you can easily do so at https://childrenbelieve.ca/commrise. 

Our fundraisers will never ask or accept cash or cheque as payment at the door. If someone at your door asks for cash or cheque as payment, please end the interaction and immediately Children Believe by calling 1-800-661-5098 or emailing askus@childrenbelieve.ca.
