As tragic events continue to develop in eastern Europe, Children Believe is standing in solidarity with our ChildFund Alliance members to ensure emergency aid is available to affected children and families in Ukraine following the Russian attack.
The hostilities, which began Feb. 24, are threatening the well-being of the country’s 7.5-million children, along with their families. Ensuring children are given every protection possible is an essential aspect of our work. In any emergency situation, this vulnerable generation’s safety is paramount.
As a member of ChildFund Alliance, we are part of a global network of 11 child-focused development organizations working to create opportunities for children and youth, ending violence against them, their families and communities.
Alliance member ChildFund Deutschland (Germany) has been working in Ukraine since 2004 in various programmatic areas and major regions in the country. ChildFund Deutschland is acting quickly to provide emergency services to children and their families. Our Italian Alliance member We World is working to provide essential support to Ukrainian refugees escaping into neighbouring countries.
Children Believe is in the process of connecting Canadians directly to these relief efforts, channelling much-needed donations to support humanitarian assistance for victims. ChildFund is leading this, working closely with local partners to provide the most vulnerable with critical relief supplies and services.
We stand with the children, families and communities of Ukraine and are committed to joining in protecting their health, safety and well-being.
Through Children Believe, and with our ChildFund partners, we’re helping deliver urgent and critical relief so we can keep children safe during this crisis.
