UNICEF: millions of kids won’t get to experience their first day of school

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt in-person learning

Many children look forward to their first day of school, but COVID-19 may ruin their plans, with news from UNICEF that classes will be ‘indefinitely postponed’ for 140-million students around the world due to the pandemic.

Aside from another year without quality, in-person learning, kids from vulnerable communities will also miss daily nutritious meals to help them grow strong and focus on their studies during this important time.

UNICEF reports: “Studies have shown positive school experiences during this transition period are a predictor of children’s future social, emotional and educational outcomes. Children who fall behind in learning during the early years often stay behind for the remaining time they spend in school, and the gap widens over the years.”

At Children Believe, we continue to support students and families affected by the pandemic. We’re providing food rations, child-protection support and supplies for children to continue their education so they stay in school.

Provide hope for a child’s future during these unprecedented times by investing in their education today.
