Global hunger rises in Africa as Ukraine war blocks grain exports, risking millions of lives. World leaders seek export solutions. Children Believe aids impacted communities.

Global hunger is a growing concern in African countries as the ongoing war in Ukraine is reportedly affecting massive grain exports.

Reports indicate millions of tonnes of grain is being blocked from leaving Ukraine. “[This] has … put millions of people at risk of hunger,” notes BBC News.

World leaders are considering alternative ways to export food from Ukraine. In many regions, specifically Africa, the cost of grains, cooking oil, fuel and fertilizer is on the rise.

At Children Believe, we continue to help families in Ukraine as well as in three African nations where part of our work includes evaluating basic needs of food, clean water, shelter and medicine. We’re always monitoring our program areas to ensure communities have resources to thrive.
