Why young activists around the world are fighting for gender equality

Watch this video, featuring 20 young activists, spreading awareness about gender inequality

Girls and women have the right to live safely with equal access to resources and opportunities, and a group of 20 young activists in the UN Women video below remind us why we need to continue to take action for change.

“It’s unacceptable that in 2020, young women and girls are fearing for their lives and safety,” says Canadian activist Katrina in the video, likely alluding to the rise in domestic violence during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the United Nations reports the following: “Globally, 750-million women and girls were married before the age of 18 and at least 200-million women and girls in 30 countries have undergone female genital mutilation.”

At Children Believe, we work with our program partners to end all forms violence against women and girls. In 2019-2020, we trained 52,000 community members, leaders, local administrators to support gender equality, including women’s rights.
