Three words that best describe her
inspiring, passionate, empathetic
What’s her role and connection to the cause?
Dr. Belinda Bennet is a values-based passionate leader with more than three decades of experience in international development, particularly as it pertains to child rights, excluded communities and women.
She has served as the regional head of Christian Aid U.K. and forged a thriving new business model for India. She's also spent years addressing social inclusion by working with excluded communities, having founded Sakthi-Vidiyal (which helps children facing difficulties, such as life on the street) and served as the Chair for Cure International India Trust (which addresses the disability caused by clubfoot among children).
Formerly the country director of our India office, Belinda heads up the programs-and-policies team. Aside from overseeing our five directors working around the world, she also supports management of our grant program from her office in India.
What academic work set her up for success?
Belinda holds a doctorate in social work from Shivaji University in India as well as a masters in social work from MK University India and a masters in philosophy in psychiatric social work from the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences — also in India.
Interesting tidbit
An avid reader, Belinda also enjoys cross-cultural experiences — such as visiting a small fishing village on the west coast of India — with her husband and teenage son.
